A STOURBRIDGE music video producer turned Bewdley into the wild west when he directed a new video for Kidderminster band Dharma Bums.

Film-maker and metal band frontman Nick J Townsend directed the video for Ballad of El Chivato – which is one of five songs featured on the band’s debut EP Nothing to Lose Blues.

The clip will be released on Saturday (January 27) and follows on from an EP which was released last July to positive reviews as well as receiving airplay on BBC Introducing.

It was filmed on a Bewdley site known as ‘The Bloody Hole’ which witnessed one of the final skirmishes of the English Civil War.

Dharma Bums lead singer Kevin Wrench said: “You have to suspend your disbelief.

“We’re on the plains of the American wild west, lamenting the passing of our fallen comrade the notorious outlaw Billy The Kid, amidst the glow of campfire light and the setting sun.”

The band draws inspiration from a range of sources including history, folklore, current affairs, film and literature, as well as blues, folk, country, rock n’ roll and jazz to create their unique sound.

Since forming in late in 2015 they have become regulars at local venues and they will be taking to the stage at Wolvesfest in June after a successful appearance at Hopfest last year.

Nothing to Lose Blues is out now and available on iTunes, Spotify and Deezer while physical copies can be bought through bandcamp or directly from the band at one of their gigs.
