CLASSICAL music lovers are set for a treat later this month when Gig Caritas performs three of Tchaikovsky's most popular works.

Holy Trinity Church in Wordsley will be hosting the concert on Saturday September 29 starting at 7.30pm.

Stourbridge Chamber Orchestra will expand to a full symphony of 60 players especially for the occasion.

The orchestra will be performing the timeless Nutcracker Suite, the 1812 Overture complete with cannon effects plus Tchaikovcsky's 6th Symphony Pathetique, which many believe to be his finest work.

Musical director Keith Horsfall said: "Tchaikovsky's music is dear to all our hearts and I know all the performers are really looking forward to bringing this wonderfully romantic music to people in our area. I promise an evening to remember."

Once again, Gig Caritas will combine the occasion to raise funds for good causes and proceeds from the event will be going to Black Country Radio which is completely manned by volunteers but manages to keep the region entertained 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
