THE line-up for the first ever ‘Halesowen’s Got Talent’ has been announced ahead of the show this weekend.

Entertainers will be battling it out at Benjamin’s, in Birmingham Street, from 1pm on Sunday (March 18) in a bid to win the chance to perform at this summer’s Halesowen Carnival and Music Festival.

More than 20 performers, including singers, rappers, dancers and even acrobats, will be competing on stage in front of a live audience and a panel of judges.

The top two contestants in the competition – which is being organised by the Halesowen Carnival committee – will then go on to perform at the main event on July 7.

Councillor Stuart Henley, one of the event organisers, said: “Halesowen Carnival is getting bigger each year and we can’t wait to see the winner from the talent show go on to perform in front of a large crowd at July’s event.

“It would be good if the whole of Halesowen could get behind this event to help promote our local performers and the town.”

The overall winner of Halesowen’s Got Talent will be chosen from the two finalists, claiming the top prize of £150 and a video recording session, sponsored by local agency MW Promotions UK.

Doors open from 1pm, with judge Josh Smiffy hosting the opening from 1.30pm. The talent show will then get underway from 1.45pm where the 23 acts will perform.

The show will also feature special guest performances from Bangra Band and Olivia Guest, before the awards are announced at about 5.15pm.

Audience members can book tickets, costing £3, online at http://www.ticketsource.co.uk/date/449938, or for more information about the contest, performers and judges, visit www.facebook.com/halesowensgottalent.
