Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is to switch on the Christmas lights in London’s Oxford Street this year.
The X Factor judge and pop star will be joined by chart acts Rixton and Jess Glynne when she presses the button for the festive illuminations on the evening of November 6, which will be hosted by the street’s John Lewis store.
Other stars who have been chosen to flick the switch in recent years have included Jessie J and Robbie Williams.
Thousands of shoppers are expected to flock to the location to see the star guests and the start of the light display which will feature three quarter of a million lower-energy LED bulbs.
Jace Tyrrell, the deputy CEO of event organiser the New West End Company, said: “The Oxford Street Christmas lights are famous worldwide and the switch-on event is the most eagerly anticipated event of the year.”
Meanwhile, Rita Ora is to switch on the Christmas lights at Westfield London, Shepherd’s Bush, on November 3.
The Black Widow singer, 23, will be joined in The Atrium by BBC Radio 1 presenter and friend, Nick Grimshaw, to count down alongside a 10,000-strong crowd.
After switching on the lights, she will perform three of her hit singles live on stage.
