IT is the time of year when CHAOS comes to Brierley Civic Hall as the longest-established amateur operatic society in the Black Country puts on its annual production.
For this year’s show, Cradley Heath Amateur Operatic Society are presenting the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Carousel, between November 8 and 12.
The whirling merry-go-round story revolves around bad-boy carousel barker Billy Bigelow and trusting mill-worker Julie Jordan.
With songs such as the iconic ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’, ‘If I Loved You’, ‘June is Bustin' Out All Over’ and ‘When the Children Are Asleep’, the audience will be transported to the tight-knit fishing community of New England.
With the enchanting Snow Children, the society hope to capture the imagination of audiences from the curtain-up and the famous ‘Carousel Waltz’.
A new production team of director Steve Humpherson, musical director Simon Wilkinson and choreographer Donna Jones have been putting in hours of work with whole company to bring a fresh approach to the show and a polished production.
Carousel has evening performances from Tuesday, November 8 through Saturday, November 12, starting at 7.15pm, with a Saturday matinee show at 2pm.
Tickets cost £12 on Tuesday evening and Saturday matinee and £15 for the other evening performances. For more information, or to buy tickets, call the box office on 0121 585 7380.
