KINVER'S historic Rock Houses will provide the backdrop for a new play written to celebrate a milestone anniversary.

The New Kinver Players have created a family-friendly show based on the stories and legends surrounding the Holy Austin Rock Houses which were lived in for several centuries until the late 1950s.

Called Spirits of the Rock, the play will be performed inside the largest of the caves on Kinver Edge on Saturday August 19 and Sunday August 20, starting at 4.30pm and 6.30pm on both days.

Live music from Harmonikx female vocal group will kick off the proceedings and the play will follow, with the whole production lasting around one hour and 15 minutes.

The one-off theatrical event is being put on to celebrate 100 years of the National Trust looking after Kinver Edge and the famous rock houses which have been lovingly restored in recent decades to show how people used to live in the unusual cave dwellings.

Tickets to see the play cost £5 per person and are available from Omnipresent shop in Kinver High Street or online from www.nkp.org.uk.

There may also be tickets available on the door.

Visitors wishing to explore the Rock Houses, gardens and tea-rooms ahead of the play will need to show National Trust membership or pay normal admission to the attraction in addition to the play ticket price.
