A DOUBLE bill of award-winning plays from a group of Black Country actors are set to be performed for free at Claptrap this evening (Monday, July 23).

The Stourbridge High Street venue will host to ‘Imagine?’, an original play written by a Halesowen optician Mark Moran, and Wolverhampton writer David Pitt’s ‘Bert’ from 8pm.

‘Imagine?’ tells the tale of Davey Kay (Moran), a music magazine journalist who is interviewing Stuart (David Francis), who plays John Lennon in a Beatles tribute band called the Pre Fab4.

Stuart is really a painter and decorator from Cradley Heath, but Davey seems to believe that he is the reincarnation of John Lennon himself.

As the interview progresses, events take a sinister turn for the worse.

Francis also appears in ‘Bert’ – a play which revolves around the topic of suicide – alongside Halesowen actor, author and comic Jonathan Hipkiss.

John (Francis) is seated in his fume filled car waiting for eternal nothingness before Michael (Hipkiss) appears. Is he an angel or is he just part of the journey to nothingness?

Looking at life, love, death, and that inner part of us that we all hate – our inner ‘Bert’.

Doors open at 7pm for a prompt 8pm start.
