LINE of Duty TV star Gregory Piper will be playing a widely different role when he performs with Black Country comedy group The Fizzogs in their new show Still Freezin'.

Gregory, who played arch-villain Ryan Pilkington in the hit BBC crime series, will appear as Bertrum Cotterill, who admits he hates playing in his “ridiculous mother” Lizzie’s plays.

Black Country comedian Jonny Cole will also feature in the new show playing “Dirty Dick from down the pit” on the three-date tour.

The show is a reworking of their Freezin’ production which received widespread acclaim.

Fizzog Sue Hawkins said: “We are delighted to have Greg on board. He has been part of our group for a few years and this role is completely different to the one we’ve seen him in recently on TV.

“Jonny is going to bring bits to the show which have never been seen before."

She promised the show will feature "special effects like you’ve never seen before, singing, dancing and roller skating, yes roller skating" and Jonny Cole, who is now presenting the breakfast show on Black Country Radio, said: “I’m super excited to be part of the show.

"I’ve known the Fizzog girls for ages. We’ve shared the stage on many occasions although I’m totally out of my comfort zone with this show.”

Tickets for the show cost £12.50 and are available from www.thefizzogs.com/shows-and-appearances/.

The tour opens at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham on Sunday June 9, and continues at Walsall’s Forest Arts Centre on Saturday June 15 and Brierley Hill Civic Hall on Friday June 28.
