ICONIC folk artist Julie Felix, dubbed Britain’s First Lady of Folk, will be the first guest to entertain audiences at the brand new Stourbridge Folk Club.

California born Julie, who has been touring worldwide for over 40 years, will be performing at the all-new club - based at Stourbridge’s Katie Fitzgerald’s - on Tuesday November 20.

Brierley Hill folk artist Sunjay Brayne, a nominee for the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and winner of the Wath Festival Young Performer’s Award in May this year, will be supporting.

The talented teenager, who has just finished a string of dates supporting guitar legends John Renbourn and Wizz Jones, has also been co-ordinating the new club night which will run twice monthly at the Enville Street pub - with singers’ nights on the first Tuesday of the month and guest artists on the third Tuesday of the month.

Other top acts already booked in for future weeks include Paul Downes (December 18) and Steve Tilston (March 19 2013) with guitar virtuoso and 29-times nominated BBC Radio 2 Folk Award veteran, Martin Simpson, who is set to bring the folk club year to an end on May 21 2013.

Plans are also in the pipeline to hold a Stourbridge Folk Festival in June next year, organised by Eddy Morton of Katie Fitzgerald’s.
