On Thursday October 12 Wordsley History Society met for their monthly meeting. Forty two members and 45 visitors attended.
The Chairman asked for a minute's silence in memory of member John Webb who recently passed away.
It was announced the 2007 calendars were on sale. A picture of the old Red Lion pub in Lawnswood Road had now been placed on the wall in the main hall of the Community Centre. The Christmas meal would take place in the centre on 14th December and would be followed by Black Country entertainment. All monies should be paid by the November meeting.
Speaker, Andrew Lound gave a moving and enthralling talk entitled "Titanic - Midland connection". The chairman thanked the speaker.
After the talk, the audience were able to look at the most interesting memorabilia.
The next meeting will be on Thursday 9th November when a firm favourite of the Society, Pat Boyd, will give a talk entitled "Christmas - Past and Present".
The talk will take place in the Community Centre at 7.30p.m. Visitors always welcome at a cost of £1.50 including refreshments.
