Glassboys boss Gary Hackett was left with a mix of emotions after his side were denied three points by a last minute equaliser in their midweek derby encounter with Bromsgrove but was delighted to see more than 500 fans flock through the gates.

The top of the table clash attracted the War Memorial Ground's highest league crowd for more than 10 years and the manager is sure the neutrals amongst them must have been more than impressed with what they witnessed.

He also believed the 3-3 draw against his former club and league leaders and a 3-2 defeat at home to Rushall Olympic on Saturday were disappointing in terms of a points return but good in terms of performance.

Hackett said: "The Bromsgrove game was a great night with a big crowd and plenty of goals.

"It was a superb advert of football for our league.

"We are obviously disappointed because I believe we did more than enough to win the game.

"In the last two games we have played well and conceded six goals but looking back at both matches our keeper hasn't had a another save to make."

The Glassboys now face two tough away games against Bishops Cleeve on Saturday in the league followed by a trip to Stourport Swifts on Tuesday in the Errea Southern League 3rd Round.

They will be without both Mark Jones and Sam Rock who were both stretchered off in consecutive games for the fixtures and the foreseeable future.

n Elsewhere Lye picked up an impressive 4-3 win at home to Elllesmere Rangers on Saturday in the West Midlands Premier league.

Grant Joshua was the hero with his second hat-trick of the season grabbing his final goal from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.

Lye will be at home this Saturday when they take on league leaders and local rivals Gornal Athletic.

n Brierley and Hagley Alliance went down bravely away to second placed Bewdley 4-3 at the weekend.

Goals from Andrew Webster, Ross Pearce and Ross Harris were enough to salvage a point as they went down to late Bewdley winner.

They will be back on their travels this Saturday when travel to relegation threatened Ledbury.
