A YOUNG squad of Stourbridge B' swimmers have been celebrating after they gained promotion.

The 32-strong team gained promotion at the Nuneaton Junior Swimming League Division three final in Wolverhampton.

In total more than 90 per cent of all Stourbridge swims were personal bests.

The team also donned wigs and pom-poms for their parade pre competition, and were duly rewarded with a shield for the "Best Turned Out Team" of the gala.

The final standings placed Stourbridge 'B' in third place, behind Warley Wasps and Worcester 'B'.

The team will now compete in Division 2 for the forthcoming season.

The promoted team, made up of nine to 12-year- olds was: Rebecca Bradley, Beth Hickman, Hannah Irwin, Emily Bennett, Megan Dudley, Kay Bennett, Beth Hendy, Emily Sheppard, Abbygail Byrne, Kate Fletcher, Jessica Hickman, Alice Maycock, Lauren Evans, Phoebe Facer, Becky Irwin, Steph Piper, Emma Rhodes, Tom Warner, Jacob Anson, Robert Chandler, Ryan Sharpe, Jarryd Aston-Baugh, Connor Meehan, Sam Knowles, Paul Chandler, Sam Donaldson, Jack Hartshorne, William Rennicks, Luke Shaw, Dan Sheppard, Scott Janes, Jake Sawyer, and Jack Whyle. This was a tremendous achievement and was supported by an excellent campaign by the Stourbridge A team who came 8th in the Premier division out of all the clubs in the Midlands.
