A WOLLASTON school looks set to raise £6,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice within 12 months.
Staff and pupils at St James’s Primary School are racing towards their target after they held a Great British Bake Off style event, recently, which raised around £250.
The school kicked off the charity challenge in October with a sponsored trek around the school grounds and Wollaston and have been going full throttle ever since.
To ensure the target is hit, 20 staff and governors plan to do a zip wire at Snowdon later this year and headteacher, Sally Sixsmith, will be trekking across the Himalayas in October.
Councillor Tim Crumpton, cabinet member for children’s services and lifelong learning, said: “The school children have taken the Acorns charity to their hearts and are so enthusiastic - they are all getting behind each event making them extremely successful.
“I would like to congratulate the pupils and staff so far in their efforts and wish them luck to raise cash for the forthcoming treks and zip wire challenge.”
