OLDER drivers in the borough can get on the road to success with a free safety course.

The Driving Safer for Longer course aims to give drivers aged 60 and over the confidence to continue driving safely for longer.

Dudley Council has teamed up with the Driving Standards Agency and the Institute of Advanced Motorists for the scheme.

Focusing on a range of safety and awareness skills, the course will refresh motorists’ knowledge of the Highway Code and general driving skills.

The course will run on Saturday October 11 at Age UK’s activity and wellbeing centre at Merry Hill shopping centre from 9am to 12.30pm.

Transport boss Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, said: “This free course will help to ensure people retain the confidence to drive safely on our roads. Working with partners, Dudley Council is pleased to offer this one-off course which refreshes people on the Highway Code and offers support and advice generally on driving.”

Each driver will receive a free information pack which will include a current Highway Code.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come basis.
