RETIRED Stourbridge residents have helped to raise more than £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The cash was raised by Churchill Retirement Living as part of its annual World's Biggest Coffee Morning event.

This was the sixth year that staff from the company's offices nationwide and people living at its retirement apartments, including those at its Spicer Lodge, Enville Street, have supported the cause.

Their baking and brewing efforts paid off as managing director, Spencer McCarthy was able to hand over a cheque for £21,749.81.

Mr McCarthy said: “We wanted to ensure we raised more money than ever before, which we’re delighted to say we have.

"We know how vital such fundraising is to the work that they do."

Katie Blake from Macmillan Cancer Support added: “We are so grateful to Churchill Retirement Living for choosing to support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning again this year.

"The money raised will go towards supporting the two million people affected by cancer today, ensuring that no one will face cancer alone."
