MULTI-MILLION pound work aimed at tackling traffic problems in Brierley Hill will start next month.

The bulldozers will move in to start work on the new Keeping Brierley Hill moving' parallel route on Monday April 16.

The work centres on a new route to the High Street between Dudley Road and Church Street and a new road linking Waterfront Way with Pedmore Road.

Junction improvement work at Hickman Road/Pensnett Road, Bryce Road/Pensnett Road and Bank Street/Brookmoor High Street will also take place to keep traffic moving.

The work will be carried out by building firm Carillion and is supported by Waterman Civils, Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership (BHRP) and Westfield.

Councillor Angus Adams, cabinet member for transportation, said: "The development of the parallel route is crucial to tackling traffic congestion in the High Street.

"Minor site activity has already started and while there will be a little disruption on April 16, we would ask members of the public to bear with us when site presence increases and for the duration of the project."

More details on the new parallel route can be found at the Signpost shop in Brierley Hill High Street.
