A PROGRAMME of exhibitions, workshops and family entertainment has been unveiled for the 2015 International Festival of Glass.

The four-day event is being held around the Stourbridge glass quarter from May 28 to 31, with the British Glass Biennale running alongside from May 28 to June 28.

Festival organisers have announced the 2015 programme will features glass exhibitions, celebrity doodles turned into glass and a mammoth glass blowing challenge called Community Breath.

Elisabeth Johnson, festival coordinator, said: “Many of the world’s top glass artists are taking part in exhibitions, master classes and demonstrations.

“It really is a packed programme and one which we are thrilled about. This festival is unique in its breadth and accessibility for all.

“We have lots of family activities and street entertainment and we hope people will come along and discover the beauty of glass and the incredible skills involved in creating stunning glass art.”

Alongside the exhibitions, all members of the public can take part in a series of glass making master classes – led by renowned glass artists – and workshop sessions in glassblowing, enamel work and stone portrait carving.

Families can join together to take part in archeological digs, puppet workshops, sandblasting, glass painting and creating photos using 19th century techniques.

The British Glass Biennale, which showcases work from 77 artists drawn from across the globe, sees artists competing for a variety of awards.

Submissions embrace a vast range of glassmaking techniques and range from the miniature to large scale installations.
