A STOURBRIDGE fundraiser is calling for fellow Dudley folk to take part in a special event to support the charity which cares for his daughter.
Matt Greaves will join hundreds of sponsored walkers on Saturday November 28 at Acorns Children’s Hospice’s second 'lantern walk' as the charity aims to light up Walsall Arboretum.
The 38-year-old’s daughter Jessica has cerebral palsy and visits Acorns’ hospice in Birmingham for short breaks.
He hopes lots of people will also take part in the walking event to help families like his who rely on the charity’s services.
Matt said: “We’ve been using Acorns for about five years and I know first-hand the amazing work the charity’s staff and volunteers do.
“When Jessica visits they really help her to achieve so much and make the most of every single day. It also helps give our family a break and a chance to spend quality time together.”
Each carrying a glowing lantern, participants will turn the arboretum – which will host a family fun day of music and entertainment before the walk – into a sea of orange during either a 5km or 12km stroll.
Registration for the event costs £10 for individuals, £30 for a family of four and £40 for a family of five, and walkers will receive a free lantern walk t-shirt, battery operated lantern and a medal.
