A HAGLEY school will take part in an attempt to break a world record for the longest Christmas cracker pulling chain.

The attempt to crack the Guinness World Record has been organised by Crackerjack Children’s Trust to raise funds and awareness for the trust and its work to support children with disabilities and their families.

It will take place at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form Centre later this week on Thursday (December 17).

More than 1,200 students, teachers, local dignitaries and members of the public will be taking part in the huge cracker pulling event.

Terry Bull, co-director of the trust, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to raise much needed funds and awareness for the trust.

“Our sincere thanks to Haybridge High School for hosting the attempt and to all the participants who, without them, it would not be possible for the event to go ahead.”

The current official record is held in Ireland with 798 participants in December 2014.
