STUDENTS at a Stourbridge school were this week joined by an actor and author as they celebrated books and storytelling as part of a two-week literacy festival.
John Edgar, whose scripts have been produced on BBC Radio 4, has been working throughout the week with pupils at Pedmore Technology College and Community School in Grange Lane as well as youngsters from local primaries.
Stella Wright, Independent Learning Centre Manager at the school, said: "We were delighted John could join us for the week, as part of our school's two-week literacy festival.
"His gift as storyteller has been so appreciated, students and staff have really enjoyed his sessions and have been totally engaged and entertained whilst learning how John develops his stories."
Children from Rufford, Hob Green, Pedmore C of E and Cradley C of E Primary Schools were also invited along to take part in the project which included performance and storytelling workshops and which followed on from World Book Day celebrations on March 3 when Pedmore pupils and staff dressed up as book characters and staged sales and book hunts around the school.
