A WOLLASTON school had something to crow about yesterday (Monday September 19) when it held its first-ever scarecrow festival.
St James's Primary School, on The Kingsway, hosted the event which was organised jointly with the Parent, Teachers, Friends Association.
Pupils, staff and parents created more than 55 straw-stuffed characters which were then dotted around the playing fields to form a trail.
The event also raised more than £240 for the school which will go towards new playground equipment.
Samantha Shuttleworth from the PTFA said: "We were really overwhelmed with the school's response and support to this new event."
