THERE is set to be further disruption on a major road in Lye due to the ongoing repair work following a gas leak.

National Grid Gas notified Dudley Council on Tuesday (December 13) about the leak in Stourbridge Road, which is in “extreme proximity” to the major Lye Bye-Pass.

To allow repair work to be carried out, temporary signals were installed on the road and although it was initially expected that the work would be completed by tomorrow (December 16), National Grid now say the work will not be complete until next Friday (December 23).

A Dudley Council spokesman said: “National Grid Gas have submitted a revised duration notice to Dudley Council. They have requested a new estimated end date of December 23 due to the fact that there is gas in properties and in multiple ducts requiring additional works to those originally planned.

“Hopefully they will not require all of this increased duration, however disruption is likely whilst the works continue.”
