HUNDREDS of people crammed into the Ryemarket's fountain square today (Sunday) to remember popular footballer Ryan Passey who lost his life a week ago in a horrific stabbing incident at Chicago's.
Grieving friends and family turned out in force to gather outside the town nightspot where a one-minute silence was held at midday.
A steady stream of people still in disbelief at the tragedy, continued to lay flowers and pin up pictures of happier times outside the venue.
Ryan's heartbroken mum Gill Taylor and dad Ada Passey were supported by relatives and friends at the event which saw balloons released into the air and dance and pop tunes blasted out after the silence - including Bob Marley's upbeat 'Everything's Gonna Be Alright' track.
Ryan's step sister Chelsey Taylor-Hill said: "It's an incredible turn out for him."
She described Ryan as "very charming" and added: "He really was loved by everyone."
Ryan, a self-employed window cleaner who played for Wren's Nest FC and formerly Stourbridge FC's youth team, died after being stabbed in the chest at Chicago's in the early hours of Sunday August 6.
Kobe Murray, aged 19, The Broadway, Dudley, has been charged with his murder and appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday.
He is due before the court again on September 5.
Chicago's will remain closed until August 24 when Dudley Council's licensing committee will meet to discuss what happens next.
