COMMUNITY campaigners aim to bring the magic of Christmas to Hagley when they host what promises to be a spell-binding Harry Potter themed festive fundraiser.

To celebrate 20 years of Potter mania and to help raise funds for the village community centre - the organisers of music festival Hagfest have organised a Hagwarts event as an alternative seasonal fun event for families.

Harry Potter fans of all ages are invited to dress up as their favourite characters from JK Rowling’s enchanting books as there will be a fancy dress competition with a Kindle Fire up for grabs at the event –which will take place at Hagley Community Centre, Worcester Road, Hagley, from 4pm to 7pm on December 9.

Admission will be £7 for person and includes a photo opportunity with Harry Potter, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid and Draco plus a present and Christmas prophecy from Dumbledore, as an alternative to a gift from Father Christmas.

Organiser Fran Evans said: “It should be a great event as it’s got loads of village support. It’s a nice alternative to Santa as some kids don’t like Santa – they get a bit freaked out.”

The event, sponsored by West One and chimney sweeping specialists Fluology, will also include magic performances from Johnny Bamboozle and facepainting including the chance to get a glittery Harry Pottery lightning scar, henna tattoos, arts and craft stalls, book stalls, snacks and refreshments including chance to sample some Butter Beer, Fuffle-chocolatino and mulled wine for the over 18s.
