THOUSANDS of homes have been left without power as Storm Eleanor hit Britain with winds of up to 80mph.

Forecasters warned lives could be at risk from flying debris as the fifth-named storm of the season arrived on Tuesday evening.

An amber weather warning was issued for southern parts of Northern Ireland and northern England as well as southern fringes of Scotland overnight.

BRITAIN could join a Pacific trade group after the UK leaves the European Union, according to reports.

The Government has held informal talks on becoming a member of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) to stimulate exports following Brexit, the Financial Times claimed.

Britain would be the first member of the trade agreement to not border the Pacific Ocean or the South China Sea.

AT least 30 people were killed when a bus tumbled down a cliff onto a rocky beach along a narrow stretch of road known as the “Devil’s Curve,” Peruvian police and fire officials said.

The bus was carrying 57 passengers to Peru’s capital when it was struck by a tractor trailer and plunged down the slope, said Claudia Espinoza with Peru’s voluntary firefighter brigade.

The bus came to rest upside down on a narrow strip of shore next to the Pacific, bodies of passengers strewn among the rocks.

A CHAMPIONSHIP footballer has hit the big time after winning a millionaire lottery raffle back home in Ireland.

Kevin O’Connor, 22, who signed for Preston North End last year, returned for a few days with family and friends over the New Year after he learned of his big win.

After collecting his million euro jackpot in the National Lottery offices in Dublin he revealed that his mother Breda urged him to check his pocket after hearing the winning numbers were sold locally.
