DEDICATED volunteers who give up their time to help and support people of Kinver have relocated to the village library.

Kinver Volunteer Bureau mainly provides residents with transport to medical appointments and currently operates with a group of 40 willing helpers.

Paul Wooddisse, chairman of Kinver Community Library, which is also run by volunteers, said: “We’re pleased to now be in a position to share some of our space with the Kinver Volunteer Bureau, which has recently sought a new venue from which to operate.”

The bureau's key organiser Jackie Light added: “Our main function is to provide transport to appointments at the hospital, doctors, dentists, opticians or similar for people without transport.

“We are self-financing so we request a voluntary donation from passengers to reimburse drivers for petrol costs.”

The bureau, which welcomes new drivers and offers short-term loans on wheelchairs, also runs a lunch club on the third Wednesday of each month – primarily for people living alone – although there is currently a waiting list.
