DUDLEY UKIP leader Paul Brothwood has hit back at former Green Party leader Natalie Bennett, labelling her ‘deluded’.

Ms Bennett claimed UKIP get more press coverage as they ‘say and do stupid things’ when talking to Stourbridge Green activists on January 31.

Councillor Brothwood responded by calling Ms Bennett ‘deluded’ and said: “Some of the Green policies have been quite awful. They have got some very strange ideals.”

The Wordsley councillor said although UKIP did receive more press coverage, the media sought to ‘destroy’ them.

He said: “We are the only party fighting the establishment."

The two politicians did share views that Britain may not leave the EU.

Natalie Bennett said there may be a ratification referendum this year, with a ‘significant chance’ that Brexit will not happen.

Paul Brothwood said there was a ‘huge risk’ of Brexit not happening under the current Conservative government.

Cllr Brothwood called on the party to ‘find its feet’ and continue to fight for Brexit, saying that there was a danger of undermining ‘the biggest vote in British history’.

He also called for embattled Henry Bolton to be removed as leader at the UKIP Extraordinary General Meeting on February 17, insisting that he must leave at the ‘quickest opportunity’.
