UKIP Euro MP Bill Etheridge has released a video to pay tribute to his "loyal and faithful" friend.
For a decade, Bruce, the West Highland Terrier and Jack Russell cross, was a big part of the former Sedgley councillor's life.
The "unusual looking, hairy bundle of energy" often accompanied Mr Etheridge on leaflet drops and his popularity on the doorsteps led to him getting his own Facebook page.
Paying tribute to his four-legged friend, the West Midlands MEP said: "I'm pretty sure if Bruce's name was on the ballot paper, he'd have got more votes than I did!
"Goodbye Brucie, you'll always be remembered and loved."
