HIGH Acres Community Association are busy preparing for another family fun day this Saturday (June 23) which takes place at the local High Acres pub.

The event is set to kick start the famous Black Country Festival when hundreds of people are expected to attend.

Fun and frollicks take place at the High Acres in Kingswinford from 1pm until 6pm with organisers hoping to raise plenty of cash for charity.

Visitors can expect numerous activities to be taking place including the ever popular foam machine, surf rider, BBQ, stalls and live music on hand.

This is the third event HACA have staged, the two previous fun days reaping in over £1,000 with Saturday's extravaganza expected to produce the same.

Group chairman Paul Brothwood said: “We first formed HACA in 2016 to coincide with the Queen's birthday. But the whole idea was to bring the community together, which it did, and it proved so successful that we decided to stage a summer festival every year.”

This year's chosen charity will be Disability in Action which is based at Queen's Cross Network in Dudley where the centre supports adults with physical and sensory disabilities.

Mr Brothwood added: “We don't just stage the summer fun day, but we also stage events at Christmas and on Bonfire Night. It's gone so well that it has been an honour to serve them.

“Every year, we managed to raise over £1,000 and I would expect this one to do the same.

Cllr Kerry Lewis, group treasurer, said: "Many hours of hard work goes into organising this day, I would like to thank our members, Paul Brothwood, Jane Walker, Lindsey Holliday, Nicky Sproson, Natalie Davies and Gemma Starkey."
