GCSE students were dancing in the streets in Stourbridge on results day.

But while they had every right to be celebrating after passing with flying colours, the reason for the performance was a charity flash mob.

Shoppers in High Street were a mixture of bemused and amused as teenagers from Hagley RC and Wolverley High Schools suddenly broke into a street dance (and a couple of cartwheels).

The fifteen pupils, all aged 16, are taking part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) and completing 60 hours of community work.

They are supporting four good causes with a series of events, one of which was the flash mob for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust which supports people with a fault in the way their bone marrow produces blood cells.

Other charities that will benefit during this stage of their NCS course are Barnardo’s children’s charity; Nightstop, which helps the homeless; and Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove.
