AN online fund set up to help pay for the funeral of Quarry Bank hairdresser Stuart Roe who was stabbed to death in Rowley Regis has raised more than £4,600.

Mr Roe, aged 34, who owned Mr Trim barbers in Quarry Bank High Street, was found with fatal stab wounds in Springfield Drive at around 1.30am on Sunday December 30 shortly after he left the Britannia pub in Halesowen Street.

Friends and family have been left in total shock at his death and cousin Justine Walker has set up a Go Fund Me page to raise £7,000 towards funeral costs.

A statement on the page describes Mr Roe, an avid Wolves fan who was a member of the darts team at The Church Tavern pub in Quarry Bank, as " a loveable, kind, generous, friendly, caring, sociable person and a friend to many" and it goes on to say: "He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandchild and cousin.

"Stuart was a very family oriented man.

"He was stabbed to death in his home town of Halesowen.

"Stuart didn't plan to die this young so he does not have the funds to cover funeral costs, your donations will go towards funding the kind of funeral Stuart deserves."

Justine said on Facebook : "R.I.P my lovely cousin, I will love you forever and always no matter what!

"You were always there for me and looked after me like a little sister, you were the big brother I never had, you protected me from any harm I'm just sorry I could not do the same for you."

Mr Roe, of High Street, Quarry Bank, was found in the street by a member of the public.

Paramedics fought to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martyn Turley, aged 57, of Whitehouse Street, Tipton, has since been charged with murdering Mr Roe and he appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday January 3.

Turley faces charges of murder and possessing an offensive weapon and a trial date has been set for June 24.

Currently in custody, he will formally enter his plea on February 14.

Police continue to appeal for help to piece together the final moments before Mr Roe's death and want to speak to drinkers who were in the Britannia pub, residents, passersby and anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the area that evening.

Detectives can be contacted via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk, or by calling 101 or Crimestoppers (anonymously) on 0800 555 111.
