The grieving family of stabbing victim Stuart Roe are staging a tribute to him at this weekend’s Wolves match.

Friends and relatives of the barber are calling on supporters to join them for a minute’s applause during the 34th minute against Leicester at Molineux on Saturday.

Mr Roe, who ran Mr Trim barbers in Quarry Bank High Street, was stabbed to death in Halesowen on December 30 shortly after he left the Britannia pub in Halesowen Street.

The 34-year-old was an avid Wolves fan and had been a season ticket holder with his dad as a young child.

Family friend Andrew Templeton said on Facebook: “His dad, Jasper, has asked me to join him and fellow Wolves fans at the Leicester game in a minute’s applause to celebrate this young lad’s life.”

Mr Templeton said: “We’re just going to do a tribute to him after the tragedy that happened.

“We’re absolutely devastated, everybody is just devastated. I remember him being born. He was a great kid.”

More than £5,100 has been raised towards funeral costs on a GoFundMe site set up by Mr Roe's cousin Justine Walker and tributes have described him as “lovable, kind, generous friendly and caring”.

Mr Roe, of High Street, Quarry Bank, was found in the street by a member of the public.

Paramedics fought to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martyn Turley, aged 57, of Whitehouse Street, Tipton, has since been charged with murdering Mr Roe and appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday January 3.

Turley faces charges of murder and possessing an offensive weapon and a trial date has been set for June 24.

Currently in custody, he will formally enter his plea on February 14.
