HUNDREDS of people turned out to the pay their respects to popular Halesowen hairdresser Stuart Roe today (February 22).

Mourners packed into Rowley Regis Crematorium on Powke Lane to say goodbye to Stuart, who was fatally stabbed in Rowley Regis two months ago.

The service was also broadcast to people standing outside, due to the high number of mourners in attendance.

Mr Roe, of High Street, Quarry Bank, was described as 'quality' by his best friend.

He was described as someone who would stand by his loved ones no matter what, and was remembered as kind and loving.

One of Stuart's best friends shared his memories of the 34-year-old, reminiscing about dancing on the bus to work to their favourite Nickleback song.

The service included some of Stuart's favourite songs including Meat Loaf's 'Two Out Of Three Aint Bad and 'You Are Not Alone' by Michael Jackson.

Mourners had the chance to pay their respects at his coffin, which was decked out in a Wolves flag and scarf, his beloved lifetime team.

Stuart's family also requested donations to the 'Justice For Ryan' fund, set up after the fatal stabbing of teenager Ryan Passey in a Stourbridge nightclub in 2017.

Mr Roe, who owned Mr Trim barbers in Quarry Bank High Street, was stabbed to death in the early hours of Sunday December 30 shortly after he left the Britannia pub in Halesowen Street, Rowley Regis.

He was found on the floor by a passing member of the public who called for an ambulance. Despite the efforts of medics, Mr Roe died at the scene.

Martyn Turley, aged 57, of Whitehouse Street, Tipton, has been charged with murdering Mr Roe and he pleaded not guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on February 14.

He was remanded in custody and a trial date has been set for June 24.
