A COMMUNITY defibrillator has been fitted at a Wordsley primary school to help save lives in an emergency.

The vital piece of kit has been installed on the wall inside the reception area at Ashwood Primary School in Bells Lane.

Wordsley councillor Kerry Lewis said the installation has been made possible through support from intu Merry Hill, Fast Aid Black County and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

She added: "We're really pleased we've managed to bring such an important life-saving device to Ashwood Primary School and to the community.

"It is a vital piece of equipment and you'll never know when some one will require it."

Headteacher Keith Butler added: "We have church groups and evening lettings who use the school so the defibrillator will be invaluable if anyone is taken ill around the school community. We have received training on its use so feel confident if we ever have to use it."
