A LYE business owner has called for a greater police presence in the town after his dog grooming business was broken into for a second time.

Posh Cutz, based on Lye high street, was raided in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving owner Gary Farmer to clean up the damage.

An intruder smashed in the front door of the business to gain access, and once inside tried to smash a second door in.

The intruder was disturbed by the people who live above the business and left empty handed, but the break in has left Gary with a bill of up to £7,000 to repair the damage that has been left.

It is not only the physical damage that has hurt his business, he also had to close his shop in the aftermath of the break in.

Gary said: "Seven staff rely on the shop for a livelihood and I've had to shut the shop.

"It's not only me that has been targeted. There's been a few break ins around here recently.

"At Tiffins they broke in and stole all the food, even the ice cream."

Gary said: "There's one CCTV camera on the high street and no police in Lye at all. The nearest stations are Brierley Hill or Oldbury.

"Lye is left forgotten."

Gary explained how his customers have rallied around to support him getting Posh Cutz back on it's feet, with one customer donating £70 to help with repairs.

Gary added: "All of my customers have been disgusted by it."
