FORMER president of the Old Foleyans' has died at the age of 90.

Maurice Evans passed away suddenly on Friday April 5 at Russell's Hall Hospital after battling dementia for two years.

He leaves a wife Sue and sons Guy and Martin.

Mr Evans had been a member of the Old Foleyans’ Association for many years, going back to the 1950s and had held many positions of office on the committee.

He had been president for 20 years from 1988 until 2017 when he retired due to ill health.

Mr Evans worked as farm manager for the Marsh & Baxter dynasty at Ashwood, Kingswinford, from 1963 to 1994, before retiring to live at Cookley.

His life-long association with Old Swinford Hospital went all the way back to his childhood when he was sent to board there from his home in Rushock, Worcestershire, in 1938 at the age of ten.

His son Martin Evans said: "Oldswinford school was his life before he was diagnosed with dementia in 2017. He devoted his life to the Old Foleyans' - being on the committee for over 50 years."

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 7 at 11am at St Michael's Church, Rushock, Worcestershire.
