PAUL Smith is determined to end the season on a high when Redditch United host Leiston this Saturday.

Reds had a mixed Easter weekend when a 3-1 victory over Hitchin at the Trico Stadium was followed by a 1-0 loss at Halesowen on Monday.

The manager wants to draw a line under the Yeltz defeat and make sure his squad are fully focused on bagging a final home win to round off the season in style.

He said: "We had a very good home win on Saturday against Hitchin. I thought we played some really good stuff and thoroughly deserved the win.

"It was then a strange one against Halesowen and a performance that we just didn't see coming, especially how we have approached games over the last two or three months.

"I did not see us producing a performance like that. Collectively and individually we just weren't at it and our discipline wasn't as tight as it should have been.

"They scored from a mistake from ourselves and we didn't take the chances we did create.

"I think that maybe it could have just been a performance too far after a really good season.

"I won't dwell on it and I won't be too hard on the players because they have worked so hard to get us to where we are.

"It's now important we go out with a bang in front of our home fans this weekend.

"In a couple of weeks the players will be wishing they were playing football on Saturday again so it's important they enjoy it now.

"We've done so well this season and we want to finish on the right note. The players will get that message."

James Bowen, Harry Franklin and Danico Johnson are all likely to miss the final game of the season but Leam Howards and Rob Evans will be assessed.

Meanwhile, the boss confirmed that talks about his future were ongoing with chairman Chris Swan.

He added: "We're still talking at the moment but everything is positive and hopefully we can get something resolved soon.

"We'll get the season finished now and then carry on talking after that."
