A GROUP of travellers set up camp in Brockmoor this afternoon and were swiftly moved on to Dudley.

Around six caravans arrived on the car park of Brockmoor Community Centre on Pensnett Road this afternoon (May 1).

Councillor John Martin, one of the ward councillors for Brockmoor and Pensnett, said he took 'immediate action' to move on the group.

The group have now been moved on to Flood Street car park in Dudley, where they will stay temporarily.

Councillor Martin said: "As soon as they arrived I asked officers to meet with the travellers and to advise them move to another site that is better able to accommodate their needs."

The travellers were asked to move to Flood Street car park in Dudley, which they agreed to.

Cllr Martin said that the travellers have used the car park site before without any problems.

He added that the site in front of Brockmoor Community Centre is not protected by preventative measures as travellers do not tend to stop there.
