BROMSGROVE Sporting's all-time leading goalscorer, Jason Cowley, has secured a professional contract with League Two side Stevenage.

Cowley, who has hit 107 goals in 127 appearances for the Rouslers, has been integral to Sporting’s progress in the last three seasons, winning the golden boot in each division he has played in with the club.

He has now won a contract with Stevenage, who just missed out on the play offs this season, after helping fire Sporting to promotion from the Southern League Division One Central.

Cowley said: “Where do I start with this amazing club. I have loved every single second I have been here.

“I can’t thank the club enough for helping me get to where I am today.

“All the fans have been amazing since I scored my first goal against Pelsall Villa three years ago.

“Bren, Andy, Mike and even Smudge (Paul Smith), who got me to the club, have done nothing but help me get to where I want to be and that’s playing full time football.

“It’s been my dream since I was six years old and now I have achieved it and want to progress more and become better and better.

“The club will be forever in my heart and I will always class Bromsgrove Sporting as home.

“Thank you for the best three years in my football career.”

Manager Brendan Kelly said: “I’m so happy for Jason. He deserves this move for all the hard work he puts in and the consistency in his performances.

“He is a born finisher and will only get better. He lives and breathes football and it’s very good timing for him to make this move.

“We have helped and guided Jason as we promised to do so, but everything he has done on the pitch is all down to his raw talent and ability.

“We have been active in helping Jason progress because he deserves to.

“I would like to thank him for all he has done for us and cannot express how pleased I am for him and his family."
