BROMSGROVE swimmers rewrote the record books with some sensational performances at the 25th ESSA national finals which took place at the prestigious Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield.

The Bromsgrove School quartet of Beau Vaughan-Hawkins, Oliver Dieppe, Oliver Cattell and Henry Foster covered themselves in glory by finishing third in the under-11 boys freestyle relay.

Not only did they collect bronze medals, but they also broke a school record which has stood for 20 years when they clocked a time of 60.16secs.

The same quartet had only narrowly missed out on another podium place when they came fourth in the medley relay with a time of 1:8.84secs.

Henry Foster went further by breaking another school record which has stood since 2008 when he clocked 15.08 secs for the boys under-11 freestyle.

Unlucky Alice Wilson-Marsh came within a fraction of a second of breaking another Bromsgrove School record when in the 25 metre back crawl, missing out by six hundreths of a second.

The girls' under-11 medley relay team which comprised of Alice Wilson-Marsh, Isla Goold, Meghan Higgs and Jessica Fox qualified for the B final after finishing in eighth place.

However, the girls altered their tactics for the final and clocked a quicker time when coming home in 1:12.01 secs which was good enough to win the event and rank Bromsgrove School as ninth in the country.
