KIDDERMINSTER Carolians started their pre-season preparations as they head into a historic season for the club.

KCs were back in training this week as they ready themselves for a campaign in Midlands One West - the highest level in the club's history.

The club, which is also marking its 50th year, is now appealing for players to join training this summer.

Carolians are hoping an impressive coaching line-up will help drive more success on the field this term.

Coach Ian Bletcher said: "We have probably the most qualified team of coaches in the area and they will be able to give all players individual attention and personal development.

"The coaches have all attended recent coach education sessions from Matt Ferguson (Northampton 1st team forwards coach) and Dave Ellis (France and New Zealand coach) and are keen to deliver really up-to-date and informative sessions.

"We have a scheduled development pre-season game against Bridgnorth RFC in late August and the development XV will be led by one of the brightest young coaches in the country, Ruth Middleton. As well as having recent Premiership playing experience, she has been identified as a future coach at really high level.

"The sessions will be short, fast paced and include lots of games rather than drills and old fashioned running around pitches.

"Any player who is keen to develop their skills and fitness is welcome to come and meet the team. You just need to bring some training kit and boots and trainers to be assured of a very warm welcome."
