FOUR talented young boxers from Mikey's Boxing Gym in Kidderminster secured medal success in Hull.

The boxers took part in the annual Hull Box Cup, which featured numerous national champions and fighters from five countries.

First to medal was Bailey Wilding, 11, with a dominant performance in the final. He won a unanimous decision to take the gold and extend his unbeaten record to four wins.

Next to the final was Sandra Piekarski, 12, and she put on a great performance against a very good unbeaten boxer but just missed out on gold and brought home a silver.

Trey King, 11, put in another dominant performance against a talented boxer who had beat the Scottish national champion in the previous round. Trey won the bout by unanimous decision taking his unbeaten record to five wins and adding another gold to his medal tally.

Last up was John Boy Hodgkins, 10, who also put in a fine showing to stopped his semi-final with a body shot to take him to the final. There he came up against another unbeaten boxer and it was a great bout in which Hodgkins just missed out on gold on a split decision that could have easily gone his way.

Coaches Mike Mikolajczyk said: "We're so proud of how all the boxers performed in their first tournament, in and outside the ring. They represented there club and town exceptionally."

Overall the tournament was a great success for the Kidderminster club which only started three years ago.
