REDDITCH powerlifter Kelly Phasey has been called up to represent England at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships.

The event will take place in St John's Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada this September.

Phasey, who runs Kelly Phasey Fitness in Windsor Road, is no stranger to top-end competitions having been a member of the GB Powerlifting team since 2014.

She has already won the European silver medal in 2018, bronze medal in the European Equipped Bench 2018, bronze medal in the bench at the IPF World Classic Championships 2017, and prior to that was part of the RFU Premiership League Champions team in 2012/2013 with Worcester Ladies.

She said: "I am absolutely delighted to be representing England in Canada, although as the travel costs to Canada are not covered I am offering to promote local companies both within my gym and on the trip in return for sponsorship opportunities.

"If you are interested in learning more please contact me by email at info@kellyphaseyfitness.co.uk and any local support will be very much appreciated."

The announcement also coincides with the expansion of her gym with the appointment of new personal trainer Steve Moses.

Moses will be moving the gym forward with small group training sessions for a maximum of four people, where participants can experience a full personal training session whilst splitting the costs four ways.

He said: "Having studied the same HND qualification in sports coaching and development at the same time as Kelly, we both share the same ethos and passion when delivering high quality coached sessions - and like Kelly, I cater for all ages and abilities."

In addition to the above Kelly has also recently completed a working partnership with Redditch self defence run by Pete Martin, who has been a self defence instructor in Redditch for 30 years.
