A LLANDUDNO singer has taken a big leap on the path stardom.

Former Ysgol John Bright pupil Adam Hender is on a mission to do for Wales what 2019 breakout star Lewis Capaldi has done for Scottish music, with the release of an acoustic video of his song Don’t Wake Me Up.

While Hender may be a new name to some music fans, his star power is sure to reach new heights following a signing to Bristol record label 3tone Records, who have big ambitions for the 21-year-old and his incredible voice and song writing talent.

To celebrate, Hender will play a gig in an "unusual" Conwy location, set to be revealed a week before it takes place on Wednesday, September 18.

Hender said: “It’s really exciting to see the amazing reaction to Don’t Wake Me Up and to be able to announce this special free gig on home turf in Conwy. We’ve been working away in the studio writing and recording and I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved.

"I can’t wait to play for everyone in Conwy – we’ve found an incredible venue, it’s quite unusual, and we’re planning for it to be a really special occasion for everyone who’s got on board to support me so far. I’m a very proud Welshman, and I’d love to follow in the footsteps of all the incredible Welsh singers and bands who have blazed the trail around the world. Cymru an byth!”

Hender is the first artist to be unveiled by 3tone Records, whose managing director Dean Roberts is also from North Wales.

Roberts said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Adam is the first artist we’re able to bring to the public, especially as he’s a fellow Welshman.”

“He’s a lovely guy with a world class voice and some stunning songs which we think have enormous potential. We’ve been able to bring in some of the best behind-the-scenes people in the business to work with Adam and they’re with us because they share our belief that he can achieve great things.

“We want to do what the likes of Lewis Capaldi has done for Scotland in the last couple of years. We think fans at home in Wales are going to love him and hopefully we can build nationally and internationally from there.

“We believe Adam can follow all the great Welsh superstars and be an ambassador for us around the world.”

Hender will follow Don’t Wake Me Up with new music and more tour dates in the late summer and autumn.
