DAMON Garrif completed a five-wicket haul before Old Elizabethans hung on for a draw against third-placed Redditch.

After heavy overnight rain, a delayed start meant a 39 overs per side Worcestershire League Premier Division clash.

Having elected to bowl first, OEs got off to the perfect start, with Sam Harn removing Oliver Mason for a second-ball duck.

But Redditch played aggressively in response.

At 75-3 the game began to swing in Redditch’s favour thanks to an excellent 87-run

partnership between Rizwan Chaudhry (98) and wicketkeeper Chris Brown (44).

Garrif removed both along with three more as he finished with figures of 61-5 and Redditch ended on 239-9.

OEs reached 20-0 before their innings began to fall apart as they were reduced to 39-4.

Alex Bastable (13) tried to steady the ship and Jude Rees looked good in scoring 20 but both were dismissed.

When number 10 batsmen Amar Jawanda was out for a duck, OEs were 99-9 with the last pair needing to survive five more overs.

But Sam Ford and Harn calmly saw off the remaining balls to deny Redditch an outright victory.
