A MAN has been rescued from a canal in Oldbury.

Medics were called to the canal in Tat Bank Road last night (August 12) to reports of a man in the water.

Ambulance staff worked with the fire crews from Oldbury, Woodgate Valley and Wednesbury to rescue the man, who was treated at the scene for injuries not believed to be serious.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a patient in the water, near to Tat Bank Road, at 10.13pm last night.

"One ambulance, a senior paramedic, a paramedic officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was still in the water.

"Ambulance staff worked with the fire service to rescue the man. He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Sandwell Hospital."
