KINDHEARTED pupils at a Halesowen school put their best feet forward and raised more than £6k for a cancer charity.
More than 600 youngsters took part when Leasowes High held its first Race for Life event.
Staff also took part in the 3k race on Leasowes campus and Leasowes Woods raising an impressive £6,598 for Cancer Research UK.
Anne-Marie Bennett, Deputy Curriculum Manager of PE at the Kent Road school, said: "Previously, we have taken students to Race for Life events at local parks but by hosting our own event, so many more students could be involved.
"Some students wore the traditional pink colour and there were many messages of support being worn by students and staff who have been affected by cancer.
"Initially I hoped that we might raise £1k for Cancer Research, but I was completely blown away by the amount of money students were donating.
"After a summer of collecting sponsorship money we raised £6,598."
Everyone who took part received an official Race for Life medal.
