A WOMAN has died in a house fire in Kingswinford.
Medics and fire crews from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge were called to a house on The Knoll just after 9pm last night, Thursday, September 12, to reports of a severe blaze.
A woman found inside the house was confirmed dead at the scene by medics.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Sadly a woman found inside the property was confirmed dead on scene by ambulance staff.
“A man, who was out of the property when the emergency services arrived, received treatment by ambulance staff after suffering minor smoke inhalation.
"He didn’t require further hospital treatment and was discharged on scene.”
The fire is believed to have ripped through the ground floor front bedroom of the property.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke of her shock after returning home last night to find the road cordoned off and a heavy emergency service presence at the scene.
She said: "The whole thing is a massive shock, it's absolutely awful."
The fire is believed to have been accidental, with the full cause yet to be established.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Fire Service said: "Our fire investigation teams have been in attendance overnight, although the full cause is still being determined, it is believed at this stage to be accidental and related to electrical equipment.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends affected by this incident."
