ALVECHURCH conceded a stoppage time equaliser to let a two-goal lead slip at home to Peterborough Sports.

Following last week's poor performance in the FA Cup defeat to Belper Town, manager Darren Byfield saw his side put in a much better performance at Lye Meadow; but ultimately they were left disappointed after dropping two points late on.

With new signing Zack Foster, who re-signed from Stourbridge, in the starting 11, Church created the first chance with Kevin Monterio firing wide from range. Peterborough responded with Richard Jones heading over the bar.

In the first-half Alvechurch created the majority of the chances. First Ben Usher-Shipway fired over the bar after good work from Jordan Goddard and Josh Ezwele. Ezwele then saw a low shot saved by Lewis Moat, while Javia Roberts fired wide after a good run into the box.

The second-half was an entertaining one, with four goals scored. Monterio headed in from a Ezwele cross for his first goal of the season and then got his second a few minutes later tapping in from an Usher-Shipway cross after Danico’s Johnson initial shot was saved.

Jamie Willets then headed wide as Alvechurch began to take hold of the game.

However, Jones then headed in for Peterborough to get the visitors back into the game and Paul Malone headed home the equaliser with virtually the last kick off the game.

Church are due to go to Stratford on Tuesday before a trip to Nuneaton Town this Saturday as Byfield's men look to quickly return to winning ways.
