The wife of tragic Rangers hero Fernando Ricksen has revealed the final message sent by his daughter just one week before his death.

Ricksen passed away this week after losing a six-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease.

Mourners turned out in force at Ibrox Stadium, leaving tributes and messages in honour of the fallen Rangers legend.

Now, Fernando's wife Veronika has talked of the last message sent by the former player's daughter, Isabella, just days before his death.

Isabella had wanted her father to know she had won a tenpin bowling game - but Fernando was not to know this would be the last time he would hear his daughter's voice.

“Last week, she was playing bowling with her friends and won," said Veronika, according to the Daily Record. "The first thing she said was, ‘Send it to Pappy.’

“We recorded a clip of her saying she had won and sent it to Fernando to hear.

“His nurse said she played it to him and he had a tear rolling down his cheek.

“It was the last time he ever heard her voice. I hope it made him happy.”

The heartbreaking revelation comes just one day after details of Fernando's funeral were released.

His funeral will be held at Wellington Church, Glasgow, before a private service for the family.
